Dr M.J Whittingham and Dr F.J Casserley are our implant trained dental surgeons.
A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is placed into the jaw bone to replicate the root of a tooth which supports a crown, bridge or a custom-made denture. If you have a gap in your smile, dental implants could be the dental treatment you need to restore your confidence.
After a dental implant is placed, the bone grows around the tooth (a process a known as osseointegration). Abutments (connectors) are then placed onto the implants. These are used to support crown(s), bridges or dentures.
Dental implants have been available for many years and scientific studies have shown that their long-term success is extremely high. For many patients, dental implants are the gold standard dental treatment and offer the ideal solution for their dental needs.
For implant treatment treatment, your oral and general health should be assessed to ensure the success of your dental implants. This will be done by our dentists who have had advanced training in dental implantology.
Factors that determine success of treatment include your general health, whether you smoke, the health of your mouth and remaining teeth, any medication that you take, and the amounts of bone available at the proposed implant site. Every case is individual, therefore each patient will receive a personalised treatment plan to suit them; following their implant consultation.
If you think that a dental implant could be the solution you need to improve your dental health and appearance, book an appointment with one of our implant-trained dentists.
Implant costs vary with individual patient needs. Consultation fees are £50 and treatments start from £1700.
Dr G.A Fogg is our resident orthodontist. He offers treatment to straighten teeth which is available on the NHS (following an assessment of treatment need, which determines qualification) for patients under 18 years of age and private options for patients over the age of 18.
Dr M.J Whittingham offers Inman Alighner braces on a private basis.
“The Inman Aligner is the perfect solution for crowding or protrusion of the front teeth. It is really fast, very safe and great value. With the patented Inman Aligner, your front teeth can be gently guided to an ideal position in a matter of weeks. Most cases complete in 6-18 weeks and because it’s removable you can take it out to fit with your lifestyle.” (InmanAlighner.com)
There are a wide range of ‘cosmetic treatments’ available here at Fogg, Whittingham and Casserely, including teeth whitening, contouring and veneers to straighten teeth and close gaps. Your dentist will be more than happy to discuss these options with you, but please be aware that these treatments are often only available on a private basis.
We have a team of 4 fully qualified nurses who run fluoride application clinics 3 times per week.
Patients under 18 years of age are referred from their regular dentist to the clinics and given oral health advice and fluoride varnish applied.
Fluoride varnish is a treatment that can be used to help protect against tooth decay. The varnish contains high levels of fluoride and is painted onto the surface of both baby and adult teeth. It works by strengthening the tooth enamel, making it more resistant to decay. (NHS choices)
